The challenge
A tourist planning a trip to the Pieniny jumps between a dozen sites: trails on one, accommodation on another, events on a social media profile, weather and river levels somewhere else. Trail descriptions get copied from place to place along with their mistakes, and local businesses have nowhere to appear without paying for a position in a directory.

The solution
A portal run from the place it describes. Trail length and elevation gain are calculated from the actual route geometry rather than copied from other sites, and the course is verified against the peaks the trail genuinely crosses. Weather and the water level on the Dunajec refresh daily. Local businesses add their own listings and publish them immediately, free of charge. On top of that, an events calendar with automatic tagging and an "I want to..." module that assembles ideas for a day out instead of yet another list of attractions.

The outcome
The site holds 34 described attractions, 27 trails with measured parameters, 51 suggestions for spending time and 40 businesses with a free listing. The content maintains itself wherever that is possible - place data refreshes on a schedule from open sources.
